Ilan is reading for his DPhil in Mathematics at Oxford, focusing on the underpinnings of Deep Learning. He recently completed an MSc in Mathematical Modelling and Scientific Computing, also at Oxford, and spent one year as a researcher at the Oxford-Emirates Data Science Lab. His academic background spans mathematics, philosophy, and social justice activism, and he believes strongly in the power of mathematics and machine learning to tackle pressing global challenges.
Jory is reading for an MPhil in Environmental Change & Management at Oxford. His background is in marine science and geography, and he currently researches data visualization, exploring connections between visual data in maps and decision making. In his spare time, he enjoys bird watching and nature hikes, the sea, reading the news, and playing board games with friends.
Saul recently completed an MSc in Global Governance and Diplomacy as a Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford, and is now reading for a Master of Public Policy degree at the Blavatnik School of Government. His research focuses on the political economy of development in Africa, and he is particularly interested in the effects of artificial intelligence and automation on the developing world. He is worked for the governments of Ghana and Lagos State in Nigeria, and is a columnist at The Daily Maverick in South Africa.
